In reference to the decision and announcement of authorities of the People’s Republic of China to suspend outbound travels from Wuhan (effective from Friday, 31 January 2020), The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia has advised Malaysians to defer all non-essential travel to Wuhan and other areas that may be affected by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
AXA Affin General Insurance wishes to inform that any Trip Cancellation claims to Wuhan and other areas of People’s Republic of China that may be affected will be honoured for policies purchased prior to 31 January 2020 with confirmation of the non-refundable prepaid travel and accommodation expenses from your Airline/Hotel/Travel operator.
Any claim for trip cancellation arising from purchase of policies relating to the known event on or after 31 January 2020 are not covered. Please refer to the following FAQs below for more information.
A. Travel warning has been issued by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, various other countries, widely published by the media (i.e. mainstream and social media etc.) and publicly known (globally and locally) on warnings imposed due to the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). This is considered as a known event, which deems the cancellation of trips as necessary and unavoidable prior to your trip.
B. Your Travel Policy must be purchased before 31 January 2020 and at least 14 days before commencement of your trip.
C. You must obtain written confirmation from your Airline/Hotel/Travel Operator, confirming the non-refundable prepaid cost of your ticket and/or accommodation.
Under the Loss of Deposit or Cancellation benefit, we will reimburse the insured person for loss of irrecoverable charges paid, provided that the claims were made against relevant parties prior to making claims against us whereby we will pay the portion that is not compensated by the relevant parties, up to the benefit limit stated in your Policy Schedule and subject to the policy conditions stated above.
We will reimburse you for additional charges levied in relation to any prepaid costs paid by you due to the change of travel dates, up to the benefit limit stated in your Policy Schedule, and subject to policy conditions and exclusions.
If you have purchased an annual travel policy, you may request for a refund on the premium based on customary short period rate. On the other hand, for single travel policy there is no refund once Certificate/Policy Insurance is issued.
Yes, you can claim under Travel Curtailment Benefit if you cut short your trip and return to Malaysia. We will reimburse for the unexpired irrecoverable prepaid cost from the date of your arrival back to Malaysia, up to the benefit limit stated in your Policy Schedule.
No, you are not eligible to claim unless you come back to Malaysia immediately when the travel warning/ alerts were issued and you can claim under “trip curtailment” benefit.
At present, we have a specific provision on automatic extension of coverage of 30 days which has to be due to unavoidable delay of the scheduled common carrier in which the insured is travelling on resulting in the insured being unable to complete the trip within the period of insurance.
There is no provision under the policy to reimburse for the additional costs incurred.
We will compensate under the travel delay from the time specified in the Itinerary supplied to you up to the actual departure time of your return flight to Malaysia. We will pay RM200 for the first six (6) complete hours of delay and RM300 for each complete six (6) hours thereafter up to the limit stated in the Schedule of Benefits. This Benefits is not applicable to Classic Plan.

Please be informed that Service Tax will be implemented by the Government of Malaysia with effect from 1 September 2018 at a rate of six (6) per centum.
AXA Affin Insurance Malaysia reserves the right to collect from you an amount equivalent to the Service Tax payable on the applicable premium for the policy period, or in the event that the policy period commences before but expires after 1 September 2018, to collect from you an amount equivalent to the Service Tax payable on the applicable premium calculated from 1 September 2018 on a pro-rated basis.
Your obligation to pay Service Tax shall form part of the Terms and Conditions in your insurance policy.
The laws governing Service Tax are as per the Service Tax Act, 2018 and all Regulations passed by the Government of Malaysia from time to time.

AXA Affin Insurance Malaysia berhak memungut sejumlah amaun bayaran Cukai Perkhidmatan yang dikenakan ke atas premium yang ditetapkan semasa tempoh polisi, atau sekiranya tempoh polisi bermula sebelum dan berakhir selepas 1 September 2018, memungut daripada pemegang polisi amaun Cukai Perkhidmatan secara pro-rata yang dikenakan ke atas premium yang dikira bermula 1 September 2018.
Kewajipan membayar Cukai Perkhidmatan hendaklah tertakluk kepada Terma dan Syarat di dalam polisi Insurans anda. Undang-Undang yang mentadbir Cukai Perkhidmatan adalah Akta Cukai Perkhidmatan, 2018 dan segala Peraturan yang diluluskan oleh Kerajaan Malaysia dari masa ke semasa.
